The State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant today announced that the Maharashtra Government as decided upon reopening the colleges from February 15.

The colleges will reopen at 50% capacity on a rotational basis. Samant said that the colleges will begin first and later on, the hotels will restart. Adding in, Samant said that the 75% attendance rule will be ruled out because not everyone would be feasible to walk into the campus or physically attend lectures for obvious reasons. Though, 50% attendance compulsion might continue.

The students can give examination Online as well as Offline and the details of it will be given out in the next 8 to 10 days, said Samant.

MASKS are a must for the students and staff members and SOCIAL DISTANCING inside the campuses has to be strictly followed. The Universities and colleges will have to provide sanitisers inside the campus. The government will soon issue a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to all colleges and universities in the state for reopening.

The colleges in Maharashtra have been shut since March 2020, which is almost close to a year now. Colleges have been conducting online lectures since the Lockdown. The state of Maharashtra allowed students from 5-12 class in the school campus. Uday samant had said that not giving any statement against reopening the colleges was a contradiction and hence, Samant was seen meeting up with Governor Koshyari 2 days back, to discuss the same and had said the decision will be given out soon.
