Maharashtra crosses 1 million mark with the highest 24,886 Covid-19 cases detected in a day

A record of 24,886 cases in the 24 hours span in Maharashtra, the COVID-19 patients have increased to about 10 lakh in the state.

393 more demises on 10th September took the state’s death toll to 28,724.

The state Health Department said that the total number of cases in the state is 10,15,681, with 7,15,023 recoveries and 2,71,566 active cases.

Pune, with 72,835 infections, has the highest number of active cases in the state. 1938 new patients were detected on Friday while 38 people died.

Mumbai individually detected 2,191 new cases on Friday, taking the city’s overall tally to 1,65,306.

8,067 is the current death toll of Mumbai after 44 more fatalities that were reported on Friday. There are 27,642 Active cases and 1,29,244 patients that have recovered from the virus in the city.

55 days later, Dharavi, Asia’s largest slum situated in Mumbai has seen a spike of 30 cases in 24 hours. The daily increase in the cases fell on July 19 after recording 36 cases and then remained in the range of 1-20. Out of 50,72,521 laboratory samples, 10,15,681 have been tested positive (20%) for Covid-19 until Friday.

18,405 police personnel have also tested positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra. The state’s police force has lost 185 men to the pandemic so far.

In a positive piece of news, the case fatality rate has dropped to 1.67 percent and the recovery rate stands at 77.65 percent.
