Valayanchirangara government Lower Primary School, located near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district, has a strength of 754 students and they have taken a big step towards gender neutrality by introducing new uniforms for their students which is 3/4th shorts and shirt, irrespective of the gender of the students.
It was in 2018 when the new dress code was planned and was also introduced in the lower primary section of the school in this academic year. It happened after the re-opening of schools after the pandemic induced lockdown.
The headmistress of the school, KP Suma, said that the students are excited about the new uniform and the girl students will now feel more comfortable and confident in taking part in extra-curricular activities.
