Israel gets ready for mask free indoors as Covid cases decline

On Sunday, Israel’s Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced that starting from June 15, the rules to enforce wearing face masks indoors will be lifted. As Ideal witnessed decline in Covid cases, it had already lifted the obligation to wear face masks outdoors since April 18.

Edelstein said that, if there is no unexpected increase in infections in the coming days, the restriction will soon be completely cancelled.

After most of the restrictions were lifted on June 1 regarding gatherings, social distancing, hygiene means, and more, this is one of the last Covid-19 restriction still valid in Israel.

Most of the restrictions related to travel abroad have not been lifted yet, like the ban on traveling to 9 countries, quarantine obligation for passengers arriving from these countries, and coronavirus tests obligation for all arriving passengers.

On Sunday, June 6,2021, Israel had started vaccinating the teenagers between 12-15 years of age.

It was on December 20,2020 when Israel began the vaccination campaign targeting the first phase which included medical staff, people aged over 65, and patients with chronic diseases.

Gradually, the age of Vaccination has been lowered. Now, people aged 16 and above have been eligible for the injection.
