After the Indian Cricket Team finishes its Test series versus England, the most awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) may resume its leftover half in the United Arab Emirates.

It is likely that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will conduct the remainder of the IPL 2021 season in the months of September-October this year itself.

Phase two of the tournament is likely to be hosted by UAE, as reported by the Times of India

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was suspended on 4th of May, 2021 after COVID-19 cases were detected in the bio-bubbles of four teams.

The final call on the venue and the window will be taken by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the upcoming special general meeting on May 29.

The England Cricket Board (ECB) might be approached by BCCI to do little alterations the current schedule of the 5-match Test Series between India and England. This reason of the approach maybe to free up a little space between the end of the series and the start of the IPL.

India’s five-Test series against England is scheduled to begin on August 4.

The Times of India reported from their sources as below about the gap between the two:

“If we can have those extra days eked out from the India-England schedule, then it adds to the window. If not, then within these 30 days, a full day will have to be set aside for the Indian team and English cricketers to travel from the UK to UAE, five days will have to be set aside for the knockouts later. That will leave the BCCI with 24 days to conclude 27 matches. This window has four weekends available, which means a total of eight Saturdays and Sundays for double-headers, that can accommodate 16 matches. That will leave the BCCI with 11 matches to be held in 19 days. That’s a week extra.”

The BCCI has not yet taken any calls with the ECB officials and a decision on this will be made at the special general meeting,  reported TOI.
