Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced his plan to build India’s ‘biggest’ film city in UP on Friday via video conferencing during a meeting to review development works in the Meerut division.
Within days of this announcement, The CM unveiled a magnanimous plan to set up the proposed film city on Tuesday, adding that 1,000 acre of land has been identified in Gautam Budh Nagar by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) where the film city will be built. The Dedicated Infotainment Zone will be set up with all world-class civil, public and technological facilities, a statement from the chief minister’s office stated. The statement further announced, “The chief minister said the proposed site is just an hour away from New Delhi and very close to the proposed international airport at Jewar, which is going to be the biggest greenfield airport of Asia.” The statement also stated that the aforementioned site is close to Agra, the city of Taj Mahal, Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, and near the proposed logistic hub in Noida, the proposed dry port and freight corridor, thus providing all facilities of transport and movement.
The YEIDA had sent a proposal to the state government post the identification of the land along the expressway in its Sector 21 on Sunday.
“The state government today approved the proposal for setting up a film city in Sector 21 along the Yamuna Expressway in Gautam Buddh Nagar,” Shailendra Bhatia, YEIDA’s Officer on Special Duty told PTI.
The Chief Minister held a meeting with dignitaries from the film industry in Lucknow at his official residence on Tuesday on September 22. Bollywood biggies such as Comedian Raju Srivastava, Singer Kailash Kher, Anup Jalota were present at the meeting while other big names including Anupam Kher, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri virtually took part in the meeting.
Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut and singer Anup Jalota have lauded chief minister Yogi Adityanath for his announcement of the project.
