India and Maldives signed a contract for the implementation of an India-funded connectivity undertaking, described by Maldives international minister Abdulla Shahid because the largest infrastructure initiative within the island nation. Under the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) undertaking, a 6.74-km-lengthy bridge and causeway hyperlink might be constructed to attach capital metropolis Male with adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi. The contract for the implementation of the undertaking was signed between the ministry of nationwide planning, housing and infrastructure of the Maldives and Afcons Infrastructure Ltd. The signing ceremony was attended by minister of nationwide planning & infrastructure Mohamed Aslam, minister of financial growth Fayyaz Ismail, minister of finance Ibrahim Ameer, minister of transport Aishath Nahula and Indian excessive commissioner Sunjay Sudhir.
