The hoteliers have said that due to the rise in price of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG), rise of price for veggies and pulses, and high labour cost have added up to hike the price of hotels.
A leading association of hoteliers – Indian Hotels and Restaurant Association have said that the price hike is ‘almost inevitable’.
AHAR President Shivanand Shetty says, “After almost 18 months of lockdown, we are running our businesses with very thin margins. However, the recent LPG cylinder hike of ₹266 has impacted us. An average restaurant needs a minimum of four LPG cylinders daily and it is impossible to sustain with such increase in prices.”
