Goa, a ‘must go’ place for any Indian or tourist, was under lockdown since seven months. Goa is known for its Beaches and Casinos, which have been shut for quite a long time. On Wednesday, Chief Minister Goa, Pramod Sawant said that the Casinos across Goa are set to reopen from November 1. The covid-19 pandemic had suspended all the tourism services in the state.
“Casinos will start from November 1. We have given them permission,”
Sawant told a post-cabinet press conference on Wednesday.
The rule announced for the Casino operators is to only occupy 50% of the Casino area in order to avoid crowding.
“We need to promote tourism activity,”
the Chief Minister added to the statement.
Chief Minister Sawant also said that as a substitute of paying annual fees, the casino operators could now pay their licence fees on a monthly basis.
Six operational casinos offshore that are anchored in the Mandovi river, off Panaji plus 10 onshore casinos which are operating from huge five-star Resorts in Goa.
1990s was the era when the first on and offshore casinos were licensed in the state of Goa.
The state government earlier permitted various commercial and tourism activities to restart in the state to get the economy back on track.
With 2436 active cases in the state and 597 deceased, Goa has 40168 recovered patients from the Coronavirus. A national approach towards getting in hand with the companies and deciding the criteria for Covid-19 vaccination is in process said the Centre on Tuesday.
