Goa Chief Minister on Sunday called for the ‘reconstruction of temples demolished by the Portuguese in the state.’ Talking about promoting tourism in the state, the chief minister stressed that it was the state government’s duty to encourage temple tourism.
“The temples damaged by the Portuguese should be reconstructed. Till date, the tourists were attracted only to beaches but now it’s our duty to bring them to temples,” Pramod Sawant said during the ‘Panchjanya Media Conclave’ organised in New Delhi.
The chief minister further added that the ‘allocation from the budget for reconstruction of temples has already been made.’
The Assam chief minister also joined the ongoing debate over the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and advocated for the same. “I am proud to say that Goa has followed the Uniform civil code since liberation. I think other states should also implement it,” he said.
Highlighting the developments made in the state between 2012 to 2022, the chief minister hoped to make ‘Goa amongst the best states soon.’ “For 60 years what Goa couldn’t achieve, we have achieved between 2012 to 2022, and it is going to be amongst the best states soon,” Sawant added.
