New Delhi: Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement on Friday morning that the Central government has decided to withdraw the three contentions farm laws, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait said that the farmers’ protests will not be stopped immediately.
Tikait tweeted that the protests against the farm laws will end only after the legislation are repealed in Parliament. It may be noted that the PM said in his address to the nation this morning that the laws will be repealed during Parliament’s Winter Session which will start later this month.
BKU Ugrahan faction leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan also welcomed the decision to repeal the three farm laws as “a good move by PM Modi on Gurupurab”. “All farmer unions will sit together and decide the future course of action,” Ugrahan added.
In his address to the nation this morning, the PM had announced: “We have decided to repeal the three farm laws. In the coming Parliament session, we will take constitutional measures to repeal these farm laws.”
