India has been a country of cultures, traditions and customs and this has been rooted so deeply inside the citizens of the country that, at times, they cross lines and laws.
Dowry is one such practice that has prevailed in the country since its existence. In a move to end the exploitative Dowry practice, Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, on Thursday urged jewellery shopowners to avoid using photos of brides in their advertisements as it connects gold with marriages.
And he not just requested but also gave solution to his replacement saying to use photos of homemakers or children for the same.
The Governor was addressing the press after attending the 7th convocation ceremony at Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (Kufos).
Students who attended the graduation ceremony handed over an affidavit to the governor declaring that they would not receive dowry.
