On Friday, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray said that a complete lockdown is not coming soon. He said that, “A complete lockdown may be necessary but I don’t think we will reach that stage.”
If the state government would not have imposed new lockdown like restrictions, Maharashtra would have seen nine to ten lakh active coronavirus cases, Thackeray added.
He also said that inoculation against the virus for people in the age group of 18-44 has started from Saturday and will continue as per the availability of doses.
On the eve of Maharashtra’s Foundation Day, in a television address, Thackeray said that the latest restrictions have helped to curb the virus and active cases have now stabilised at around 6.5 lakh.
“We will fight this coronavirus wave together like we did last year,” he added.
He said that,”The state will make one-time payment by cheque to procure 12 crore doses needed for the inoculation of 18-44 age group category.”

The state has received 3 lakh doses on Friday, vaccination for people in 18-44 age group has started from Saturday and will continue as per availability of doses.
