Guwahati: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal has urged the Muslim community in Assam not to give ‘qurbani’ of cows during the upcoming Eid on July 10. The Lok Sabha MP urged his community members to refrain from slaughtering cow as Hindus consider it as their mother
“India is home to individuals from many different communities, ethnic groups, and religions. The Sanatan faith, which worships the cow as a holy symbol, is practiced by the majority of Indians. Hindus believe cow as a mother,” he said.
The AIUDH chief said that Islam doesn’t calls for killing of any animal, while urging the Muslims not to kill cows during Eid.
Ajmal also claimed that Darul Uloom Deoband had also appealed to avoid sacrificing cows on Eid two years back.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind in Assam also asked Muslims not to slaughter cows on Eid.
Meanwhile, reacting to AIUDF chief’s statement, Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Vinod Bansal welcomed the appeal, but said that the Muslim leaders should appeal to the minority community to permanently stop slaughtering cows.
Bansal also asked the leaders like AIUDF to reign in the people who are killing innocents in the name of jihad.
