Covid-19: Nearly 1.80 lakh fresh infections recorded by India, active cases cross 7,00,000 mark

On Monday, India logged in 1,79,723 Covod-19 cases. As per the data published by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (Mohfw), the new variant ‘Omicron’ continues to spread in India. The updated data also showed that the number of active cases has crossed the 700,000 mark.

As the virus is spreading across states and is leading to a spike in daily Covid cases, India is witnessing the third Covid wave. Omicron cases have also risen and is standing at 4,033 wherein Maharashtra is logging the maximum number of cases (1,246), followed by Rajasthan at 529, Delhi at 513, Karnataka at 441, and Kerala at 333, as per the Health Ministry.

Additionally, the Ministry also reported 146 new deaths that took the total death toll to 483,936. After the record of fresh cases, the cumulative cases stand at 3,57,07,727.
