On Monday, the civic body said that last month, two fully vaccinated people have returned from abroad and have been tested positive for the new variant of Covid in Mumbai city, the first cases of strain found in the city.
The total tally of Omicron in Maharashtra has risen to 10.
The State Public Health Department has said that, among both of them, one of them was a 37-year-old man who had come from Johannesburg, South Africa on November 25. On the same day, his 36-year old friend who had come from the U.S has also tested positive for the new variant.
Both patients do not have any symptoms and have been admitted to the Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai. Both of them have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
