Mumbai city has recorded over half of Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra for which the civic officials have been asked by the BMC to do more of daily testing, also to make sure of contact-tracing.
As of now, in Mumbai, the daily testing is under 10,000 samples. All the 24 ward officers have been asked by the BMC to stay alert.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Suresh Kakani said “We have directed officials to increase testing, surveillance, contact tracing, strict implementations of home isolation protocol and booster dose to the eligible population.”
In the last 24 hours, the number of tests conducted in Mumbai were 9,514 which took the total number of Covid tests to 168,08,907.
The state, on Wednesday, logged in 162 fresh Covid cases from which 98 cases were recorded from Mumbai. Since Monday, Mumbai has logged in a sharp increase in the number of Covid cases when the number of cases recorded were only 34.
The citizens have been asked by the civic body not to panic as the case rise has been anticipated because there has been relaxation of Covid norms. Moreover, they have urged the citizens to adhere to Covid appropriate behavior and to put on masks as precaution.
