The Israel v/s Palestine Conflict is currently the most confusing, heartbreaking and deadly situation that the citizens of the whole world are witnessing.

The Conflict started on 7th of May in Eastern Jerusalem killing 35 people and injuring hundreds. So, let us know what is the deep-rooted cause of this war between Israel and Palestine.

May 7 was the last Friday of the month of Ramadan and Palestinians arrived at the Al Aqsa Mosque in eastern Jerusalem for prayers, they had violent clashes with the Israeli security forces and the war began. Currently, the Israelis are retaliating wilder than ever and have destroyed buildings, mosques and lives of individuals at the Gaza Strip.

Chronology

  • Ottoman Empire fell after World War 1 and the UK got control over Palestine.
  • The Britishers aim was of establishing a home for the Jews in Palestine where Arabs were in a Majority
  • In 1948, Israel was established as a nation;
  • Palestinians objected but Jews did not back off and the armed Conflict began
  • Israel had gained maximum control over the territory after the armed conflict came to an end
  • Jordan then went on a war with Israel and seized control over a part of the land which was called the West Bank, and Egypt occupied Gaza
  • Jerusalem was divided between Israel in the West, and Jordan in the East.
  • In 1967, Israel captured East Jerusalem and the West Bank and Palestinians weren’t allowed to enter the captured areas
  • Israel says the whole of Jerusalem is it’s capital while Palestinians say the East of Jerusalem is theirs
  • USA backs Israel by saying that the whole of Jerusalem belongs to Israel
  • Simply put, all this war is about the areas of East Jerusalem
  • The current violence, is again, due to conflicting claims over Jerusalem home to major holy sites of Islam, Judaism and Christianity
  • A month ago, Jews of East Jerusalem threatened Palestinian Arabs to evacuate their homes
  • Palestinians, on May 7, arrived at the Al Aqsa Mosque in eastern Jerusalem for prayers
  • Violent clashes with the Israeli security forces took place
  • The situation now is that tension between Israel and Hamas fighters is at its peak
  • Hamas militants fired more than 100 rockets on Israel
  • Israel destroyed these rockets in the air and carried out airstrikes in the Gaza Strip on its side and the conflict continues

Thus, the Conflict is on a rising graph between the two areas even when external nations are trying to intervene. Recently, the US intervened and the conflict increased.

The Conflict has been going on since decades and it has turned more violent over the years.
