Covid-19 is heard to be at peak at some parts of the country and in the other, the graph of the positives has begun to reduce. Amidst this, the Union Health Ministry has developed a digital platform plus a mobile application named ‘Co-WIN’ which will be used for real-time monitoring of the Covid-19 Vaccine delivery, recording the Covid-19 data and also to let people to get themselves registered for the vaccination process.
Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, on Tuesday, while addressing a Press Meet said that the App will help invigilating the entire vaccination process. “Co-WIN digital platform includes a free downloadable mobile application which can help record vaccine data. One can register themselves on it if they want the vaccine. There are five modules in Co-WIN app — administrator module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acknowledgement module and report module,” he said.
“Through these modules, they can create sessions and the respective vaccinators and managers will be notified,” he said.

About the app
> Administrators, Vaccinators and People being Vaccinated (Registered) will all be benefited by the app.
> Priority Groups will be vaccinated in the first 2 phases: 1) Frontline workers (health-workers) 2) Emergency Workers. Stage 3 onwards, individuals with comorbidities will be vaccinated, self-registration will be introduced. Registration will happen through the Co-WIN app.
> 5 Modules in the App:
– Administrator Module – For Administrators who will be conducting the vaccination sessions.
– Registration Module – For people to get registered for the vaccination process.
– Vaccination Module – For verification of Beneficiary details and for updating vaccination status.
– Beneficiary Acknowledgement Module – To send SMS to beneficiaries and generate QR-based certificated after one gets vaccinated.
– Report Module – To prepare reports of vaccine sessions, total number beneficiaries who have been vaccinated, who have registered and who have dropped out, etc.
> The app will also send real-time data of the temperature of the cold-storage units to the main server.
“Every single India who needs to be vaccinated will be vaccinated, which roughly includes one crore healthcare workers, two crore frontline workers and 27 crore of prioritised age groups,” Rajesh Bhushan said on Tuesday quoting the proposal of the National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration. “It is to be noted that the government will take a final call on this and these stages may not be sequential. Depending on the availability of the vaccines, these can go on simultaneously,” the secretary said.
