Guidelines have been modified by the Union Ministry of Education on unlocking of schools and have left it upon the states and Unions Territories to decide whether parents’ consent is required before the students start attending classes.
The modified SOPs focus on a smooth transition of students from online schooling to offline schooling through teaching bridge courses and identification of students based on learning levels, the introduction of large-scale remedial programmes to mitigate learning loss, and also to make sure the emotional wellbeing of teachers as well as students.
“The decision on whether or not parental consent is required for attending physical classes by the students may be taken by the respective states and UT governments”, stated the modified Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
