Amid the rise of COVID-19 cases,the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday, issued a list of fresh guidelines curving social, political and religious gatherings. It also capped the limit of people to be allowed in weddings,funerals, multiplexes and hotels.Furthermore, the guidelines stated that people under home quarantine would be stamped on their hands.
Under this fresh guidelines issued by the BMC, all the single screens,multiplexes and hotels will operate at 50% capacity. Until further notice, no social, political or religious gatherings will be allowed.
Only 50 people shall be allowed in weddings and 20 shall be allowed for funerals, says BMC in the fresh guidelines. Except healthcare and essential services, all offices will have to operate under 50% capacity only. Work from home has been advised by the BMC.
BMC has stated that the number of coronavirus containment zones and sealed buildings in the city has increased by 170 per cent and 66.42 per cent, respectively, from the beginning of this month.
Several cities and towns including Mumbai,Pune and Thane in Maharashtra, including the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions have witnessed spike in the COVID-19 cases. In a bid to prevent further spread of the virus, lockdown and restricted have been imposed in several cities and districts.
Due to the sudden spike in Mumbai city and suburbs,BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner IS Chahal announced a series of stringent measures, surveillance and reviewed the bed strength of the jumbo field hospitals set up last year.
Along with other top officials, ,Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar discussed the developing serious situation in the state and issued directions to implement the stern measures immediately.
