On Wednesday The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued an order allowing home delivery of food and essential supplies through online service providers 24 hours on all days of the week during the ongoing state-wide coronavirus-induced restrictions.
This comes a day after leading food-delivery services Zomato and Swiggy announced that they will stop delivering food after 8 PM as the Uddhav Thackeray-led government declared a night curfew in the entire state.
The order said roadside food stalls, including fruit stalls, are allowed during weekend lockdown only to provide parcels or take away services, adding nobody is allowed to stand and consume food items there.
The BMC further said the movement of maids, cooks, drivers, nurses and medical attendees providing services to senior citizens and ailing people at home is allowed between 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on all days.
The civic body added eye clinics and opticians shops are permitted to remain open within the given time issued by the Maharashtra Government
