Gorakhpur BJP MP and Bollywood actor Ravi Kishan has written letters to the Union Minister of information and broadcasting and the CM of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and has demanded a ban on vulgar content in films and songs of Bhojpuri cinema. He has demanded strict law to ensure that such content in films and songs be discontinued.

Stating the same, the letter written by Kishan reads, “The Golden history and Legacy of Bhojpuri cinema is fast depleting. The content that is produced in such films is largely unwatchable by a family audience and has a particular impact on the younger generation. Thus in the interest of the same it is important that a strong law is brought in to regulate the content that is shown in the cinema.”

Ravi Kishan, in his letters, has pointed out that the country has around 25 crores of Bhojpuri speaking population.

“The content that is produced in such films is largely unwatchable by a family audience and has a particular impact on the younger generation,” Ravi Kishan’s letter reads.

“These people deserve a better deal and vulgarity that is being dished out by Bhojpuri cinema and in its songs, must be stopped,” he said.

He also said that the Bhojpuri songs and films which have already been released should be brought under the purview of the proposed law.

For three decades, Ravi Kishan has been associated with Bhojpuri cinema and has played an essential role in making the regional cinema famous.

“I feel time has come for us to cut out vulgarity and ensure that Bhojpuri cinema is recognized for its quality and content. Today Bhojpuri cinema has become synonymous with vulgarity,” he said.

Ravi Kishan pointed out that the vulgarity in Bhojpuri films and songs has had and it still has an adverse impact on the minds of the young generation. He has also initiated a private member bill in order to include Bhojpuri language in the eighth schedule.
