In Mumbai, the schools were set to reopen on Dec 1 but will now be shut till Dec 1.

“Schools for classes 1-7 will now reopen from December 15, instead of December 1, in view of the emergence of #Omicron variant of COVID19 in the world,” Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) told the media.

In the official notice, The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai stated, “to ensure the safe return of students to school, MCGM has decided to defer the decision of opening of schools for std. 1st to 7h by 14 days. Schools for Std. 1st to 7h will open from 15h December 2021.”

In the guidelines for reopening the schools, the Government of Maharashtra had announced that physical classes were held only for 3-4 hours a day.
