On Monday, Akhilesh Yadav was taken into custody after he staged a sit-in just outside his residence after he was stopped from going to Lakhimpur Kheri wherein eight people along with four farmers have taken their last breaths due to the violence that took place on Sunday. Along with Akhilesh Yadav, the SP’s national general secretary, Ramgopal Yadav was also detained.

Both of them were taken to the nearby Guatmpalli police station wherein the former Uttar Pradesh police asked them what was it the BJP state government had to hide as it did not want any leader from the politics to go to the district hit by violence.

There was heavy police deployment outside his house where Yadav sat on a protest with the SP’s national general secretary.

“UP will not tolerate atrocities by arrogant BJP members…and if this state of affairs continues then in UP BJP members will not be able to travel in vehicles or get out of them”,  Akhilesh added in a tweet.
