A Twitter user named Jigmat Ladakhi shared a video of a few men driving their car through the pristine Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The video has shocked social media users who demanded strict actions against the perpetrators. “I am sharing again another shameful video. Such irresponsible tourists are killing Ladakh . Do you know? Ladakh has more than 350 bird species and lakes like Pangong are the home of many bird species. Such an act may have risked the habitat of many bird species (sic),” the video caption reads.
When we as tourists visit ecologically sensitive areas in India or across the world, it is our foremost duty to preserve it. Creating a ruckus or putting the habitat at risk under the pretext of enjoying is the last thing expected of us. A video from Ladakh which has surfaced online shows a group of tourists showing irresponsible behavior.
In the now-viral video, three men can be seen in an Audi and driving through Pangong Lake. You can also see a foldable table and chair placed right in the lake with bottles of alcohol atop. While it is certain that the video has been captured in Ladakh, the exact date of this incident cannot be determined.
