It is already the 6th month of the year 2021 and the Banking Sector has been one of the others that has been kept working just like the essentials to not let its members be financially affected by the Pandemic.
Considering this, the Banks across the nation have a number of days that are considered as an holiday for the Bank Employees.
In the month of June 2021, all the Banks across India will remain shut for a total of 9 days of the 30 days month. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has a list of holidays in its yearly cakenxet and it states that 3 out of the 9 holidays are for different occassions and the rest are usual weekly offs.
According to the RBI guideline, banks remain shut on public holidays while certain holidays vary from state to state. Only the gazetted holidays are observed by banks all over the country.
The Central Bank of the country has bracketed the holidays of the Banks into 3 types:
- The Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday;
- Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday;
- Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
RBI says that as per the above brackets, all the banks that include the public sector, private sector, foreign banks, cooperative banks and regional banks across the country will close its doors for the specific days.
Following is the List of Holidays for the Banks in the month of June, 2021:
Festival Holidays:
15 June 2021 – Y.M.A. Day/Raja Sankranti
25 June 2021 – Guru Hargobind Ji’s Birthday
30 June 2021 – Remna Ni
The above holidays are for specific regional banks of the country.
On 15th June, Mizoram’s Aizawl and Odisha’s Bhubaneswar will observe a holiday.
On 25th June, only banks in Jammu and Srinagar will remain shut.
On 30th June, only banks in Aizawl will remain closed.
Weekend Holidays:
06 June 2021 – Weekly off (Sunday)
12 June 2021 – Second Saturday
13 June 2021 – Weekly off (Sunday)
20 June 2021 – Weekly off (Sunday)
26 June 2021 – Fourth Saturday
27 June 2021 – Weekly off (Sunday)
The banks will be physically shut on the above mentioned days but the online services can be availed by the customers. Mobile Banking and Internet Banking will also remain on.
