Maharashtra: Schools for Classes 5 to 8 to reopen from 27 Jan

After remaining closed for over 10 months amid the Covid-19 pandemic, schools will reopen for Classes 5 to 8 in Maharashtra from January 27, state Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said on Friday.

While announcing the news regarding the reopening of schools in Maharashtra, Varsha Gaikwad also stated that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has also given his consent for the reopening of schools for students of classes 5 to 8.

 

On her official Twitter account, the education minister wrote that the state chief minister had given his approval for the reopening of schools for middle school classes and has also ensured that the safety of the students will be the first priority.

The schools in Maharashtra have been closed since March 2020 in view of the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. Maharashtra has been one of the worst-hit states in India during the pandemic, hence, the reopening of schools has been delayed several times.
