On 28 August, the Bharat Series number plates were introduced by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Providing painless vehicle mobility for the defense personnel and the government employees is the main focus of the government. On 15 September 2021, the registration to secure a BH number had begun.
The defense sector, state governments, or central government employees are eligible for BH number plates. Along with this, a private sector employee who has offices in more than four states or Union Territories is also eligible.
The applicant will have to pay eight percent of the vehicle cost for the application of the BH series number plate. This is applicable for vehicles that cost below Rs.10 lakhs. 10% is the tax rate for those vehicles that are priced between Rs.10-20 lakhs. The owner will have to pay 12% of the vehicle cost if the vehicle price goes beyond Rs.20 lakh.
With the BH series plate being valid throughout India, the vehicle owner will not need to apply for a new registration when shifting from one state to another.
