On Tuesday, the city logged in 85 new Covid-19 cases which is the highest in a month and a half that has resulted in the BMC public health department to keep their ward officials on alert to stay vigilant and to take all the necessary action.

Mumbai city, on March 3, reported over 80 cases. The wards have been cautioned by the public health department regarding the increase in daily positivity rate which goes from 0.4% on Friday and 0.9% on Tuesday.

Mumbai has been witnessing a slight surge in Covid cases for which the doctors as well as the administrators have assured that there is no reason to panic.

BMC’s additional municipal commissioner Suresh Kakani has said that “A level of rise in cases was expected as everything has opened, people are socializing, and the mask mandate is gone. There is no cause for concern at present, but ward officials have been told to stay prepared.”

He also added “We are also urging people to take the booster shot as soon as they become eligible.”
