Another incident of desecration of Sikh holy scriptures was reported in Punjab’s Jalandar district on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
The accused failed to reach the Birs because of timely intervention by the granthi, they managed to scatter the ‘gutkas’. Police booked three unidentified accused for assaulting the granthi.<\/p>\n
According to the granthi, Bhupinder Singh, he was sleeping in his room in the gurdwara complex around 3am when he heard a noise. He got suspicious and when he went to the first floor to check, he saw three persons trying to find their way around using the light of their mobile phones.<\/p>\n
“They scattered the ‘gutkas’ around and were trying to open the room where the Guru Granth Sahib was placed. They had covered their faces completely and were wearing black clothes. I saw one person throwing the ‘gutkas’ around and hit him with the stand of the mike. Then other two attacked me and I fell. They demanded the key of the room but I refused and struggled with them. They could not reach the Birs,” the granthi said.<\/p>\n
