A 21-year-old woman hanged herself after a morphed semi-nude photograph of her appeared on a fake Facebook account in her name.<\/p>\n
Police said that A Vinupriya of Ilampillai village in Salem district hanged herself inside her house around 11.30 am on Monday. A suicide note left by her cited the humiliation caused by the doctored pictures as the reason for her suicide.<\/p>\n
Daughter of a weaver, A Vinupriya was a chemistry graduate and was about to join a government job.<\/p>\n
Sources said the victim’s obscene pictures first appeared on FB last week, prompting her father to lodge a police complaint on June 23. But she could not take it anymore when another picture was uploaded on the social networking site three days later.<\/p>\n
Cops demanded bribe: Parents<\/strong><\/p>\n The young woman’s parents have blamed the police for her death. Her father, Annadurai, alleged that the Magudanchavadi police demanded bribe to start a probe after he lodged the complaint.<\/p>\n The family and their relatives on Tuesday morning staged a protest in front of the government general hospital in Salem.
