Anil Kumble addressed the media in his first official press conference as coach of Team India in Bengaluru on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Last week, Kumble was appointed as coach of the national side for one year. He pipped early favourite Ravi Shastri, who took over as team director during Duncan Fletcher\u2019s term, and who had the backing of Test Captain Virat Kohli for this position.<\/p>\n
Here are some of the highlights from the conference:<\/p>\n
1.<\/span> \u201cWin or lose, the fighting spirit will always be there,\u201d when asked what he will bring to Team India.<\/p>\n 2.<\/span> \u201cI want the Team India bowling group to believe that they are leaders.\u201d<\/p>\n 3.<\/span> \u201cCaptain will take the call on the field, I\u2009will only assist him.\u201d<\/p>\n 4.<\/span> \u201cWhatever it takes to popularise Test cricket, we are ready for that, so is the BCCI\u201d<\/p>\n 5.<\/span> \u201cPlayers will be in front. The coaching and support staff will be in the background.\u201d<\/p>\n 6.<\/span> \u201cWe are considering options for bowling coach but right now I can get closer to the boys.\u201d<\/p>\n 7.<\/span> \u201cI\u2019ve spoken to Dhoni and Virat about the roadmap for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n 8.<\/span> \u201cBeing back in the Indian dressing room is special.\u201d<\/p>\n 9.<\/span> \u201cI was the first one to call Ravi [Shastri] when I was chosen as coach. He did a fantastic job.
