The University of Mumbai (MU) has decided to register a complaint at the Mumbai Police\u2019s cyber cell about the leak of a third-year bachelor of management studies (TYBMS) examination paper.
\nThe decision was taken at a meeting of MU\u2019s Board of Examination (BoE) a few days ago. The varsity also plans to probe the role of a Bhayander college in the incident.
\nAccording to sources, the university has questioned the college officials, who have denied any wrongdoing. The varsity has also inspected the CCTV footage of the college\u2019s control room, where the paper was downloaded and printed. The probe is stuck as the footage was not clear.
\nColleges are required to allot a separate control room for downloading and printing question papers uploaded by the varsity, with the entry restricted to a select few. The colleges were instructed to install CCTV cameras in the room.
\nThe board has also announced the formation of a vigilance squad to keep an eye on exam-related activities.
\nOn April 23, HT had reported that several TYBMS students had received images of the \u2018Indian Management: Theory and Practice\u2019 question paper 30-40 minutes before they were to answer the exam. The university had zeroed in on the Bhayander college on the basis of the faint watermark of the college\u2019s name on the leaked paper.
\nThe BoE has decided there will not be a re-exam for the \u2018leaked\u2019 paper.
\nThe varsity had insisted the incident couldn\u2019t be termed a \u2018leak\u2019 as only a few students accessed the question paper on WhatsApp half-an-hour before the exam began at 11 am.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
