A 29-year-old man aboard a Bhayandar-Churchgate fast train was left bleeding on Sunday after a stone hurled from near the tracks struck him on the head.<\/p>\n
Fellow commuters pulled the chain to help construction worker Taj Mohammad get medical attention. The incident took place between Jogeshwari and Goregaon stations.<\/p>\n
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) swung into action and detained three people near the under-construction Oshiwara station. Abdul Sadam (20), Subhash Gaud (19) and a third man identified as only Shafeeq (38) had been throwing stones at passing trains.<\/p>\n
They admitted to hurling the rock that injured Bhayandar resident Mohammad, who on the way to Mumbai Central.<\/p>\n
“We hope the prompt action by our patrol team will dissuade others from endangering the lives of commuters,” said Vijay Jha, RPF’s senior divisional security commissioner on Western Railway.<\/p>\n
Mohammad was standing near the footboard when he was hit by the stone. An RPF officer took him to the station master’s office at Andheri station, where he was given first aid. Inspector Manish Rathod of the Andheri post immediately sent a team of three plain-clothes constables to the rail section where the incident took place, which resulted in the arrests the three men under relevant sections of the Railways Act.<\/p>\n

Kamala Kharat had boarded an afternoon local at Chembur with her daughter and a cousin to go to Nerul. The incident took place when the train was between Juinagar and Nerul stations.<\/p>\n
